New Delhi, April 17: The BJP today termed Nitish Kumar's "BJP/RSS-free India" call "laughable".

It also felt the chief minister was "daydreaming" with his unification bid of all anti-BJP parties.

BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma charged Nitish of being power hungry and termed his "RSS-free India" call "laughable", pointing out that in the past many Congress leaders had "daydreams" about finishing the RSS but could not succeed.

Taking a dig at Nitish for his past association with the BJP and the RSS, Sharma said the JDU leader should visit the RSS sakha for a day to understand the organisation better before passing such comments.

"Nitish had a long coalition with the BJP. He has stayed with people from the RSS. He should understand the RSS and its ideology before passing such comments and the best way to do so is to attend the RSS sakha," Sharma said.

Nitish called for coming together of all parties opposed to the BJP on one platform at a conclave in Patna yesterday pointing out that it was required to defeat the BJP. He also gave a call for "RSS/BJP-free India" that was seen as a counter the BJP's "Congress-mukt(free)" India.

Sharma charged Nitish of being a puppet in the hands of Lalu Prasad and the Congress, who symbolise "jungle raj" and corruption respectively, and asked him to first answer as to why crime and corruption were at its peak in Bihar before nursing national ambitions.

The BJP leader equated Nitish with leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal and charged him of being unable to digest the growing influence of India globally under the leadership of Narendra Modi.

Sharma said Nitish nursing national ambitions was well known and questioned Congress president Sonia Gandhi to clarify whether Rahul would lead the anti-BJP front or will just be a part of it.

BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain also questioned Nitish's credibility to call for a "BJP/RSS-free India". The leader from Bihar said Nitish was only a regional leader. "What is Nitish's credibility to call for a BJP-free India when he himself had been associated with the BJP for 17 long years? He is daydreaming and his dreams will never be fulfilled," Hussain said.
