BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday took a jibe at chief minister Nitish Kumar alleging he had forgotten the ideals of JP and Lohia.
“That Nitish has left the ideals of JP (Jai Prakash Narayan) and Lohia (socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia) has been proved from his speech in Rajgir today (Tuesday). The Bihar chief minister did not take the name of the Congress. Why is he silent? Has he forgotten the 2G scam, the Commonwealth Games scandal and other scams because of the Congress’s support to his government in the Assembly?” asked Prasad, while speaking to the media.
He expressed surprise that the Bihar chief minister had not mentioned the threat posed in Bihar by the Indian Mujahideen (IM).
Reacting to the charge of BJP being fascist, Prasad said Nitish was using the language of the Congress party.
“The Congress used the same word for JP in 1977 and for V.P. Singh in 1989. On both occasions, the Congress lost. Nitish and the Congress will lose this time,” Prasad said.
The leader also expressed surprise over the Nitish’s statement that he had directed the director-general of police (DGP) to take care of the security arrangements for the Hunkar Rally.
“Does it mean that the DGP and the administration do not follow the orders of the Bihar chief minister?” Prasad asked pointing to security lapses despite the alert by central intelligence agencies.
He accused the state government of not taking action against the IM because of votebank politics and recalled that during the arrest of Yasin Bhatkal, the Bihar police did not even interrogate him.
“The chief minister had said Darbhanga and Madhubani were being defamed owing to coining of modules with the names of places. These places are defamed be cause no action has been taken,” Prasad said, appealing to the Bihar government to take the issue of national security seriously.
Prasad also took a jibe at Nitish for dubbing the word hunkar as arrogance. “Hunkar means appeal. Even well-known poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar has used it in his poem. The manner in which the Bihar chief minister is referring to the event reflects his arrogance,” he said.
