Birla Institute of Technology's annual technical cultural fest - "Technika" - was inaugurated on Wednesday with much fanfare.
The three-day fest, which will host various technical, cultural and fun events, was scheduled to be inaugurated by the state science and technology minister Jai Kumar Singh, but could not make it due to the ongoing Assembly session. His message on the fest's capacity for overall student development was read out at the inauguration. He also praised the Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) administration and said: "BIT, Patna, established 10 years ago, has fulfilled expectations. The institute has good placement records and former students are placed at various top positions."
A brief souvenir, and video on the history and achievements of BIT, Patna, was presented after Singh's message was read out.
In the evening students presented their success stories. Akash Pati, an undergraduate student, spoke of his days on the campus and what he focused on during campus interviews. Student Seemant Pradhan's short film Smiling Tears, shot on the campus, was screened at the event, and BIT's Team Ashwa, who have designed a single-seat four-wheeler, shared their experience of their visit to Greater Noida's Buddh international circuit in 2016.
The fest's main event will be held on Thursday morning and students are expected to participate in different technology-related events. Preliminary rounds for the electrical circuit-making competition, and presentations on new and emerging technology in the field of engineering will be held on Thursday.
BIT's Patna Extension Centre was established in 2006 under an initiative by the state government. It offers BTech degrees in seven engineering disciplines including civil engineering, architecture, computer science, electrical engineering and electronics, and also courses in management, humanities and the fundamental sciences.
