Patna, Feb. 7: The original Don is missing in action on screen but you might meet him at the state’s centenary celebrations on March 23.
State education mini- ster P.K. Shahi told The Telegraph: “We have invited Amitabh Bachchan to be a part of Bihar Divas functions.”
Actors from Bihar, including Shatrughan Sinha, Manoj Bajpai, Neetu Chandra, Shekhar Suman and film director Prakash Jha, have also been invited. The education department is the nodal agency for Bihar Divas celebrations.
Shahi said: “The last time Big B came to Patna for the promotion of his film, he said he was interested to take part in the Bihar Divas function if the state government invited him. We have sent him the invitation (by email).”
Bachchan had come to the city in August last year to promote his film Aarakshan.
Directed by Prakash Jha, the film also starred Manoj Bajpai. During his visit to Patna, the chief minister had met chief minister Nitish Kumar and his relatives at his official residence at 1 Aney Marg. He had said that Bihar was changing for the better and the development was evident.
The education department has lined up a series of events to mark the centenary celebrations from March 22 to 24. Sources said famous Bollywood singers and actors would take part in a number of musical and cultural programmes. Gandhi Maidan and SK Memorial Hall would be the main venues for the function.
Prakash Jha is directing a documentary on Bihar Divas. The film would feature famous tourist spots of the state and also showcase its rich cultural heritage.
