Deputy CM slur at PM

Patna: Deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Wednesday taunted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for greeting Bihar on the occasion of Bihar Diwas. Tejashwi, on his Twitter handle, said that it has been three years and the Prime Minister is yet to grant special status to Bihar.

Extortion

Patna: Two Samastipur-based traders - Ramanand Das and his nephew Krishna Kumar Das - have allegedly received threats from a local gangster for failure to pay the extortion demanded from them. The station house officer of Morband police station Raj Kishore said that one Raj Kumar has been named as accused in the FIR. Business rivalry is stated to be the reason behind the incident.

Truck clash

Patna: An assistant commandant of the Railway Protection Force, Shesh Nath Singh, was among the six persons killed in a road accident in Bengal's Burdwan district on Wednesday. Singh, a resident of Bhojpur district, was travelling to Lohargaon village from Burdwan in a car which was hit by a speeding truck. The crash led to the death of six occupants.

Smart deal

Patna:A deal was inked on Wednesday between Patna Municipal Corporation and the railways for development of Patna Junction and nearby areas under the Smart City mission.

Live wire

Patna: Six passengers of a private bus suffered serious burn injuries when the vehicle came in contact with a live electric wire on Chakai-Deoghar road in Jamui district on Wednesday. The injured, who were travelling on the roof of the bus, have been admitted to Jamui sadar hospital where the condition of two is stated to be serious.

Health camp

Patna: Swasthya Jagarukata Mission, on the occasion of Bihar Divas, organised a free acupressure medical camp-cum-health awareness exhibition at Gandhi Maidan on Wednesday. More than a hundred patients turned up at the camp.

Unemployment

Patna: The Indian Engineers Association on Wednesday said that automation and open door policy for the private sector was the reason behind increase in unemployment in the country. It suggested measures to reduce the unemployment rate, including enhanced funding and efficient management of public sector undertakings.

Lalu calls meet

Patna, March 22: RJD chief Lalu Prasad has called a meeting for party MLAs, MLCs and former MPs on March 26 at his 10 Circular Road residence. The agenda of the meeting is to discuss the party's strategy and future plans. Lalu along with Rabri Devi, Tejashi Prasad Yadav and Tej Pratap will be present at the meeting starting at 11am.

Mandir talks

Patna: BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi lauded the Supreme Court's offer to mediate on the Ram Janmabhoomi dispute and asked both chief minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad to use their influence in bringing the Muslim community to the talks table.

Summit

Patna: The second day of the 4th Bihar Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 was inaugurated by principal secretary of the department of Industries S. Siddharth. He spoke about licences and legalities of running a start-up.

AIIMS land

Patna: BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav accused the Bihar government of not taking the initiative to establish a second AIIMS in the state as it has not provided land to the Centre for the last three years.

New coaches

Patna: The East Central Railway announced on Wednesday the augmentation of 3AC coach in Howrah-Allahabad Vibhuti Express (12333/12334) and Howrah-Kathgodam Bagh Express (13019/13020) on a permanent basis. The extra coaches are being attached from March 20 onwards.
