Vigilance heat on 15 officials
Patna: The vigilance investigation bureau has lodged FIR against 15 persons, including the former superintendent of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Om Prakash Choudhary, the health hub’s nephrology head of department, Binod Kumar Singh and PMCH former deputy superintendent Ganesh Prasad, in connection with a medicine and equipment scam.
A copy of the FIR was received by the special vigilance court on Thursday. The accused persons have been charged with purchasing drugs and equipment at exorbitant rate causing a loss of Rs 12.63 crore to the state exchequer. The goods were purchased during the financial year 2008-09 and 2009-10.

Patna: Experts from various fields gathered at the London School of Economics to discuss Bihar’s development as part of the institution’s International Growth Centre Annual meet, said a Bihar Foundation press note on Thursday. The minister for water resources, Vijay Chaudhary, represented the government and spoke on various development projects in the state. Asian Development Research Institute founder-member Shaibal Gupta, too, expressed his views.

Patna: A division bench of the high court has sought reply from the state government and the high court administration by October 21 on non-implementation of reservations in the advertisement regarding appointment of additional district and session judges in 2012.

Patna: A high court division bench has directed Patna Municipal Corporation commissioner, the principal secretary of urban and housing department and the vigilance director-general to appear before the court on October 31 to argue their side on a PIL filed by Mauryalok Market Association on the dilapidated condition of Mauryalok Complex and financial irregularities.
Industry plan
Patna: The state industries department on Thursday brought out the salient features of the Private Industrial Area Policy, which had been approved by the cabinet last month. A maximum of 10 units will be set up on 25 acres.

Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Thursday said the people should not make an issue out of the talks between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in the UN General Assembly in New York.
