Vehicle collision kills four persons

Muzaffarpur: At least four passengers were killed and 25 injured when a private bus, by which they were travelling, fell into a roadside ditch near Marwan Chowk, around 18km southwest of the district headquarters on Thursday afternoon. The bus was on way to Zafarpur from Muzaffarpur when the incident occurred. Sources said the driver lost control over the vehicle after the bus collided with an SUV coming from the opposite direction.

All the injured were rushed to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital, police said and added that the identity of the deceased had not been ascertained.

Rights panel acting head

Patna: The former director-general of police and member of Bihar Human Rights Commission, Neelmani, has been appointed acting chairperson of the panel.

Rail profit

Patna: East Central Railway has recorded an increase of 10 per cent in its income in the first seven months (April to October) of the current fiscal in comparison to corresponding period of previous fiscal.

Grievance order

Patna: Patna district magistrate N. Saravana Kumar on Thursday directed officials concerned to handle the public grievances with sensitivity.

Agri appointment

Patna: The appointment of 1,725 agriculture coordinators would be complete by December 10.

Food act directive

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday directed officials of departments concerned to do the necessary preparations so that the implementation of the Food Security act could be ensured on time. He issued the directive while chairing a meeting to assess the preparations being done to implement the act.

Sentence for trio

Patna: Ad-hoc additional district and sessions judge Ravi Shankar Sinha on Thursday sentenced Pramod Yadav, Naga Yadav and Shyam Babu Yadav, a resident of Raibag, to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment in connection to an abduction case.

Interest on loan

Patna: The government would provide subsidy on interest on loans procured by self-help-groups if the rate would be more than seven per cent. A decision was taken during a meeting of Bihar State Rural Livelihood Mission on Thursday chaired by chief minister Nitish Kumar.
