UPSC attempt bonanza
New Delhi (PTI): Civil services aspirants will get two more additional attempts from this year onwards to write the exam but there will be no change in its format and syllabi, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) said on Tuesday.
A candidate is permitted a maximum of four attempts for the examination. However, there is no restriction on number of attempts by a candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. As many as seven attempts are permissible to an aspirant belonging to Other Backward Classes. The examination is conducted in three stages — preliminary, mains and interview. The Civil Services Examination (Preliminary), 2014, is scheduled to be held on August 24.
Smugglers in net
Munger/Patna (PTI): Two arms smugglers were arrested on Tuesday with a haul of semi-processed pistols from a locality in Munger district. The duo, identified as Pankaj and Mohammad Irshad, were arrested from Sandalpur Chowk. Two semi-processed pistols and barrels were also seized from their possession.
Murder FIR
Nawada (PTI): An FIR has been lodged against a JD(U) MLA and four others in connection with a murder. The victim’s mother lodged an FIR at Pakribarawan police station against the ruling party MLA Pradeep Mahto and his four associates within hours after her son Pappu Mahto was shot dead by unidentified assailants
on Monday.
Three killed
Patna (PTI): Three persons lost their lives while 12 others were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck near Jarang village in Muzaffarpur district on Tuesday. The accident occurred on a stretch of NH-57 that was declared one way. The bus was coming from Patna and was on its way to Darbhanga while the truck was coming from the opposite direction.
Contraband haul
Patna (PTI): A truck from Manipur was on Tuesday intercepted by the Narcotics Control Bureau personnel and ganja worth Rs 21 lakh was seized from it.
Teacher camp
Patna: The district administration would organise a teachers’ recruitment camp on Wednesday for the year 2013-2014. Sources in the district magistrate office said the recruitment camp would be organised at KB Sahay High School, Sherullahpu, Sheikhpura (history), Rajkiya Balak Uchch Madhyamik Vidayalaya and Shastrinagar (political Science, commerce, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, accounts, geology).

Trains hit
Patna: East Central Railway on Tuesday announced to cancel three trains and short termination of two trains after the tracks were affected because of the train accident in Uttar Pradesh. The trains that have been cancelled include Barauni-Lucknow Express (15203) and Barauni-Gwalior
Express (11123) on May 27 and Lucknow-Barauni Express on May 28. The
two trains decided for short termination include Gwalior-Barauni Epresss (11124) and Gorakhpur-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express (11016) on May 27.
