Question paper leak gang in net

GAYA: Police today nabbed Akhilesh Pandey, alias Bablu Pandey, a member of an inter-state gang involved in leak of question papers of competitive examinations, including Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Gaya senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manu Maharaaj said Pandey was carrying a reward of Rs 15,000 on his head announced by the Bhopal administration in Madhya Pradesh. He was arrested from his native village, Chaumar, under the jurisdiction of Tankuppa police station by Wazirganj deputy superintendent of police Sudhanshu, the SSP said.

CBSE result protest

PATNA: AVN School students on Tuesday reached the chief minister's secretariat with a complaint letter against the Central Board of Secondary Education for failing to issue their Class X board results. However, they could not meet Nitish Kumar. The agitated students blocked Rajiv Nagar road and burnt tyres.

Torture MLA

PATNA: Babita Yadav, the wife of suspended JDU MLA Ravindra Rai, on Tuesday lodged a formal complaint against her husband, accusing him of indulging in domestic violence. Babita approached Women's police station at Gandhi Maidan after the couple went for mutual consent on Monday.

Life term

CHHAPRA: Additional district judge (ADG)-4 Satish Chandra Rai today awarded life imprisonment to one Vidya Rai on the charge of killing his wife, Prabavati Devi, for dowry in 2011. Vidya had committed the crime and had buried the body in the house itself. Police recovered the corpse from the house. The deceased's mother, Deo Sundar Devi, had lodged an FIR, alleging that Vidya used to torture his wife for dowry and ultimately killed her. The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on the accused.

Malnutrition

PATNA: Technical director of Care India Shridhar Srikantia said on Tuesday around 90-95 per cent of the children in the state were malnourished. He said this while speaking about the condition of malnutrition in the state. Srikantia said five out of 10 children under the age of five were malnourished in the state and their numbers could be reduced by taking proper care of the diet.

Dharna

PATNA: Kumhrar Vidhan Sabha Morcha members on Tuesday staged a dharna at Engineering College Mor, expressing concern on the conditions of engineers in the state.

Plea to ECI

PATNA: Rashtriya Sarvodaya Party has requested the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ban the Badh Chala Bihar campaign launched by the ruling JDU in the state in the wake of model code of conduct coming into force. The party has alleged misuse of public money by the Nitish Kumar government for its own publicity.

Appointment

PATNA: Awadhesh Kumar Ojha took charge as member-secretary of Bihar State Pollution Control Board on Tuesday.

Attack

BETTIAH: : Circle officer of Banjaria in West Champaran Abhishek Anand was attacked by an irate mob in Laukariya village on Tuesday. The injured officer was hospitalised at Bettiah sadar hospital.

Accident

MUZAFFARPUR: A speeding bus of Sunshine Public School hit a youth Dipak Kumar Pani Tanki Chowk under the jurisdiction of Mithanpura police station on Tuesday. He suffered head and body injuries and died on the spot. Angry residents vandalised the school bus and set it on fire.
