Patna, June 20: International School of Management (ISM), Patna, has been given recognition for 120 postgraduate diploma seats by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Chairman of the college Samrendra Singh made the announcement to the media at a news meet at ISM today.

“ISM, Patna, has now become Bihar’s largest AICTE-approved institution. It is the only college in Bihar, out of the many colleges that had submitted application forms for AICTE approval, which has got sanction this year. In the eastern region, it is the only college that has got approval to run the prestigious PGDM programme that gives autonomy to design the curriculum according to the industry requirement,” said Samrendra.

“The college is the first private initiative in such a large scale in management education in Bihar. It has a beautiful campus spread over 2.5 acre and is equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities. The college has faculty members from premier B-schools in the country and has a good industry interface,” said Samrendra.

According to Samrendra, the idea of opening the institute struck after mass exodus of students from Bihar to other states for higher education. Anindra Haldar, marketing faculty of IMS and also an alumnus of IIT-Kharagpur and IIM-Calcutta, said: “An institute can add tremendous value to the development of a student by imparting quality education with the right values and IMS has been set up for this purpose.”

Amit Parakh, dean, ISM, who is also an alumnus of IIM-Ahmedabad, said: “The college will put a lot of emphasis to develop communication skills of the students. It will also impart management training on specialisations like marketing, financing, human resource and others.”

The institute management said the AICTE approved for the 120 seats of PGDM after enquiring about the infrastructure of the institute.

Chief minister Nitish Kumar in the presence of human resource development minister P.K. Shahi inaugurated the newly built ISM campus near Danapur railway station on April 10.

The course fee would be Rs 3.9 lakh and the eligibility criteria would be ranks in CAT or MAT. Applicants will have to go through group discussions and personal interviews also. This will be combined for the admission purpose in addition to the status in the CAT or MAT.
