Patna, Dec. 18: Don is supposed to be in town on December 22. But neither the district administration is aware of it, nor the officials of the place he could visit.

The public relations (PR) firm, organising the visit of Shah Rukh Khan to the city for a promotional of his upcoming film Don 2, did not learn its lessons from the chaos on December 13, the day the star did not turn up.

PR agency Spice Bhasha stated in one of its release yesterday that SRK would be in the city on December 22. But it has still not bothered to inform the Patna district administration or the officials of the only multiplex in the city Cinepolis — the probable venue of the promotional event would be organised.

Patna district magistrate (DM) Sanjay Kumar Singh told The Telegraph: “I have not received any letter or any formal invitation on Shah Rukh Khan’s visit to Patna on December 22. The organisers have not communicated with me on the issue and I have not received any call to make security arrangements for his visit. Unless, I receive the itinerary of his visit, I cannot comment on the security arrangement.”

Singh said: “I do not want to discourage the firm, though. The district administration made proper security arrangement for Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan when they visited Patna recently. The district administration will be co-operative and supportive if Shah Rukh’s visit is organised.”

The DM said: “Ideally, the district administration should be informed at least 10 to 15 days before such events because the last-minute plan does not work properly.”

Singh is not the only one who has been kept in the dark on SRK’s visit to the town. The authorities of Cinepolis has also not been informed about the visit.

When The Telegraph contacted Cinepolis India Exhibition head Ashish Shukla on the issue of SRK’s visit to the city, Shukla said: “I have no idea about his (SRK’s) visit to Cinepolis theatre. I have not been contacted by any of the organisers or any individual regarding his visit to Patna once again. Earlier, when he was scheduled to visit Cinepolis, they had contacted me. But this time, I do not know.”

Shukla denied to comment on the PR firm’s claim that SRK’s earlier visit was cancelled because of communication gap between Cinepolis, producers of the film and the administration.

Other Cinepolis officials, who did not want to be named, said it would be really difficult to make proper arrangements if the PR agency informed them about Shah Rukh’s visit in the last minute.

“We have our own security system in place. But if a person of SRK’s stature visits the theatre, special security arrangements have to be made. It requires meticulous planning, which takes two to three days,” said one of them, adding that the organisers would understand this issue and would take corrective steps on time. “If at all SRK visits the mall, we should be informed immediately,” he added.

On December 13, over 15,000 SRK fans had gathered in front of the P&M Mall to a peek at Shah Rukh. They went berserk when they learnt about the cancellation of his visit. Police had to use water canon and batons to disperse the crowd.

The fans of Shah Rukh left the airport and P&M Mall disheartened. They, however, promised to watch Don 2 when it was released.
