Their film may have had a slow beginning at the box office but Ravi Kissen, Prateik Babbar and Amyra Dastur are hopeful that Issaq will be a black horse to contend with.
Based loosely on William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the film released to uninspiring collection on Friday. On Sunday, Kissen, Prateik and Dastur arrived in Patna to promote it.
“The film is doing well in Bihar. So, we have come here to thank the people of the state,” said Prateik, on his maiden visit to the city.
In Bihar, there are shows of the film in 70 cinemas but in Patna, there are only seven shows — three in Cinepolis, two in Regent, one each in Mona and Elphinstone. It has collected around Rs 5 lakh in Patna and around Rs 18 lakh across the state.
Asked why the film had not done well in other states, Prateik said: “The film is made for urban audiences in north India. Many people have appreciated our efforts, including Aamir Khan. He posted his praise on a microblogging site.”
Prateik — son of late actress Smita Patil and actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar — had made his debut in Aamir Khan Productions’ Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008) and also shared screen space with Aamir in Dhobi Ghat (2010). Later, the actors visited Cinepolis, where the film — directed by Manish Tiwary — was being screened.
