Bhagalpur, May 31: Social and political activists in Bhagalpur have prepared a memorandum of demands that they plan to present to chief minister Nitish Kumar during his Seva Yatra visit to the town.
Eastern Bihar Industries Association president Mukut-dhari Agarwal told The Telegraph: “We will present our memorandum of demands and suggestions to him (Nitish). It would be a blueprint for development in Bhagalpur.”
Nitish is expected to announce welfare projects worth Rs 370 crore for the district on June 2.
Sources said among the various demands enlisted in the memorandum are inclusion of Vikramshila in the Buddhist circuit, development of tourist facilities and roads. People also want Patna High Court to establish a bench in Bhagalpur.
Students and teachers of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University will also urge the chief minister to take appropriate measures for ensuring proper academic atmosphere in the varsity. A delegation of students is also scheduled to handover a memorandum to the chief minister at his janata darbar on June 1 to demanding the appointment of a permanent vice-chancellor for the university.
