Gaya, Feb. 25: Dinesh Prasad Sinha, the acting vice-chancellor of Jai Prakash University, today surrendered before the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Rajesh Sewak Narayan Pandey in connection with allegations levelled on him by Bhojpuri singer Devi.

Dinesh’s counsel, Amrendra Narayan Sinha, said Dinesh was granted bail by the CJM. Devi accused Dinesh of abusing and trying to molest her during a programme at Sambodhi Retreat in Bodhgaya on February 18.

Devi today met the Gaya senior superintendent of police Vinay Kumar and recorded her statement.

Kumar said: “We have evidence in the matter and a speedy trial will be conducted.” On Dinesh being granted bail, Devi said: “It is the matter of the court. But I will take the matter to the National Commission for Women.”
