Moti Prasad is a labourer and like many others of his ilk, does not have a television at home. But he would be proud of his son Abhishek, who would be one of the performers at India’s Biggest Dramebaaz, a talent hunt reality show for kids between the ages of five and 12.

The show goes on air from Saturday on Zee TV at 9pm.

The 12-year-old from Saidpur would perform in front of Bolywood celebrities Anurag Basu, Vivek Oberoi and Sonali Bendre.

Abhishek honed his skills at Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan learning acting, creative writing and dancing.

Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan officials today feel proud of Abhishek, though they are not surprised about his achievement. “He was different. We would be surprised when Abhishek used to come up with poems within a few seconds. Once we asked him to write a poem in which he had to describe himself and Abhishek came with a four-line poem within a few seconds — Main hoon Abhishek, Khata hoon cake, Peeta hoon Coca Cola, Zyaada nahi glass ek. It is a cakewalk for him,” said Jyoti Parihar, the Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan director. Parihar said they fondly call Abhishek Sau Gram (100gm). “He is small in size but very talented. ” Talking to The Telegraph over phone from Mumbai, Abhishek said he was happy to get this opportunity and was enjoying every bit of it. “Around 250 children from Bihar participated in the first audition. Only 150 were selected for the second audition. I am the only one from Bihar to be selected. I would definitely work hard to make my state residents and my family proud,” said Abhishek.

For Abhishek’s mother Kiran Devi, the moment when her son comes on to the screen would be of pride as well as disbelief. “I had very little expectations from him. I used to beat him because he used to bunk school to attend extra-curricular classes at Kilkari Bal Bhavan. My neighbours used to tell me that Abhishek would be never successful if he kept visiting Kilkari for acting and dancing classes. Now my neighbours ask their children to take inspiration from Abhishek. I am on cloud nine today,” said an almost sobbing Kiran.

Abhishek’s neighbours are also thrilled. “We will be glued to our television sets on Saturday. There is no television set at Abhishek’s home. We have asked his family to come and watch the episode together,” said Sunita Devi, a resident of Saidpur locality.
