Berlin, March 15 (PTI): Drunken revellers will be 'peed' back in their own coin, a nightclub district in Hamburg has decided.
Residents of St Pauli, sick of starting their day with the stench of urine, have begun coating their walls with a special paint that throws it back.
The hydrophobic (water-repellent) paint, if urinated upon, makes the urine bounce off the wall and back at the urinator's feet.
"Do not pee here. We pee back," read signs the residents have posted on the walls painted with a superhydrophobic coating.
The superhydrophobic coating goes by the trade-name "Ultra-Ever-Dry" and was developed in 2012 by an American company, Resource Energy Group.
It can be used to coat cars and fabrics, but can also wood and brick. #About $700 (Rs 44,000) is required to cover six square metres with the hydrophobic paint. But residents of the neighbourhood said it was better paying for the paint than for post-pee cleaning and living with the stench in the interim.
Other cities in Europe and Australia have started taking an interest in the project.
