Bangladeshis arrested

The Border Security Force on Tuesday apprehended two Bangladeshis who were allegedly trying to infiltrate into India through the border in Cooch Behar district.

The duo were nabbed by the 148 battalion of the BSF.

The two were Aminur Islam and his wife Amina Akhtar, both residents of Maymensingh district of the neighbouring country. They have been handed over to Mekhliganj police station.

The BSF carried out a drive against smuggling in the past few days at different locations along the Bangladesh border in north Bengal and seized cattle, cough syrup and narcotics.

The cost of the seized items is around Rs 2.72 lakh, sources said.
