Chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said she was personally overseeing initiatives to bring back 5,000-odd students from Bengal stranded in Rajasthan’s educational hub of Kota.
Chief secretary Rajiva Sinha had earlier said there was no way to bus in such a huge number of students because of logistical problems and objections from Bihar to inter-state movement of people.
“GoWB will initiate every possible help to people of Bengal stuck in diff parts of the country due to lockdown, in returning home. I’ve instructed my officers to do the needful. Till the time I’m here, nobody from Bengal should feel helpless. I’m with you in these tough times,” Mamata tweeted on Monday.
“I am personally overseeing this & we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that everyone gets any possible help. The initiation has already started & all students from Bengal stuck in Kota would begin their journey back soon,” she added.
Her tweets came days after Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot had told him the students could be transported by his government to the Bengal border.
