PERFORMING ARTS

December 1 at Sisir Mancha; 5 pm: Himaghna Smriti Sangeet Protiva presents an evening of classical music featuring Fullara Mukherjee (vocal), Swagata Banerjee (dance), Sarmila Dutta (sitar), Anindita Roy and Suparna Dutta (dance), and a sitar-violin duet by Dipak Chakravorty and Sudip Chattopadhyay. December 2 at the Sandre Hall, Calcutta School of Music; 7 pm: The Calcutta School of Music presents the second winter concert featuring flute and piano recital by Eleonore Pameijer (flute) and Marcel Worms (piano).

Till December 2 at Indian Craft Village Trust Ground; 12 noon - 8 pm: Crafts Council of West Bengal, in collaboration with Crafts Council of India and Indian Craft Village Trust, presents Crafts India 2005, a coming together of crafts, textiles, traditional mural paintings and rural performing arts and food craft.

BOOK LAUNCH

November 30 at Oxford Bookstore; 6 pm: Oxford Bookstore and Sage Publications host the launch of Hiranmay Karlekar?s Bangaldesh - The Next Afghanistan? by General Shankar Roychowdhury in presence of Amlan Dutta. The launch will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Rudrangshu Mukherjee, Manas Ghosh and the author.
