Designs of the season Pause for a Cause presents Autumn Weaves, a three-day exhibition of traditional and contemporary garments, fabrics, handcrafted textiles, apparels, jewellery and accessories from designers all over the country. Participants include Abdul Khan (Delhi; block prints), Bijay Bharti (Jharkhand; weaves and prints on natural fabrics), Inhabit (Jaipur; kurtas, kurtis and ladies suits), Junk (Calcutta; handcrafted accessories), Mahendra Kohli (Madhya Pradesh; chanderi dress materials and saris), Vanila Vastra (Mumbai; stitched kurtis and salwar kameezes), Weave Craftsco (Bhagalpur; tussar) and Raja Biswas (Delhi; handcrafted and printed sarees; a design by him appears here). Biswas’ saree collection Subhaashini is dedicated to the beauty of the Indian woman, who epitomises grace and elegance. His collection ranges from Bhagalpuri silk, Kota and mainly Kerala cotton, exquisitely done with Mokash (Badla), in an aesthetic way. The art-and-craft of Peepli has been transferred to the block printing canvas. With elegant colours and unique designs, the saris are sure to be a big hit with urban women.
