Of tradition and trend Being held on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of Birla Academy of Art and Culture, the ongoing art exhibition brings together the creations of around 500 artists from all over India. Featuring works by well-known artists as well as young talents in the field of the visual arts, it endeavours to highlight emerging trends in the contemporary art world, at the same time paying tribute to enduring artistic traditions that have defied the passage of time. Comprising 134 paintings, 45 graphics and 55 sculptures, the show features works in a variety of styles raning from realistic and expressionist to abstract and even surreal. Revealing originality and sensitivity in the modern context in their themes, they provide an insight into the ideas, instincts and inner compulsions dominating the minds of their creators.
