About a feisty grandmother’s triumph over life’s challenges, Love Songs: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow (dir: Jayabrato Chatterjee; a scene from the film appears left) is Jaya Bachchan’s first English feature film. As a precursor to its release and to create awareness for Helpage’s ‘Adopt a Granny’ programme, Glam Grans & Love Songs features a ramp walk by some of Calcutta’s best-loved grandmothers. Participants include Uma Ahmad, Rita Bhimani, Bharti Deveshwar, Shamlu Dudeja, Shelly Ganguly, Alka Jalan, Alokananda Roy and Gini Sen. Designers: Agnimitra Paul and Shamlu Dudeja. Also featuring a few songs from the film’s original, yet unreleased soundtrack, as well as classic love songs presented by Jojo and Shayne Hyrapiet. Anchor: Shahana Chatterjee. Hosted by Open Doors.

March 15 & 16 at Proscenium Art Centre; 7 pm: Theatrecian Theatre Workshop Production presents Vibgyor, a 20-minute production by the workshop participants. March 16 at Academy of Fine Arts; 6.30 pm: Theatron will stage Bernarda Albar Bari for the final time. Based on Federico Garcia Lorca’s last play, The House of Bernerda Alba, it is translated into Bengali by Salil Bandyopadhyay and directed by Saswati Biswas.

March 14 at Chitrakoot Art Gallery, 55 Gariahat Road; 6.30 pm: Filmmaker Ritaban Ghatak has put together the scattered images of a film portrait of legendary artist and sculptor Ramkinkar Baij, left incomplete by another legend, Ritwik Ghatak. To mark the centenary year of Ramkinkar Baij, Drishya hosts the premiere show of the film.
