Till May 13 at Sankara Hall, 93 Southern Avenue: Sankara Hall and Sankara Institute of Philosophy and Culture host the Adi Sankaracharya Jayanthi. Today at 12 noon: Mahanyasa Japa Ekadasa Rudrabhishekam; at 5.30 pm: Evening pooja/Rudra Kramarchana and stotra recital by Sri Sarada Mandali; at 6.45 pm: Discourse on Sankara Kathamrutham by Dr K. Ramamoorthy.

May 11 at Kala Mandir; 5.30 pm: Arghya Sen, Nirmala Mishra, Jatileshwar Mukhopadhyay, Banasree Sengupta, Saikat Mitra, Monomoy Bhattacharya, Snigdhadeb Sengupta, Arunlekha Gupta and Jhinuk Gupta will render songs set to music by Pankaj Mullick as a tribute to the legendary singer-composer on his birth centenary. Rotary Club of Ballygunge will present the programme. May 11 at Rabindra Sadan complex; 5.30 pm: Rabindra Janmotsav, organised by Rabindra Sadan, features Tagore songs by Sumitra Sen, Purabi Mukherjee, Swapna Ghosal, Rakhi Sarkar, Swastika Mukherjee, Kakali Roy, Bula Banerjee, Sramona Chakraborty, Sraboni Sen, Indrani Bhattacharya, Chaiti Majumdar, Roma Basu Mohan Singh Khangura Shantanu Roychowdhury, Tushar Bhanja, Arupratan Banerjee, Sreekumar Chatterjee and others. Till May 21 at Mrignayani, Dakshinapan, 2 Gariahat Road South: Chanderi Utsav ? an exhibition of chanderi sarees by the master craftsmen of Madhya Pradesh.

ALBUM RELEASE

May 11 at G55 Electronics, Dakshinapan, Dhakuria; 6 pm: Jagannath Bose, director, marketing, Prasar Bharati, will preside over a retail launch of its CDs and VCDs on Indian classical music and dance from its archives, commemorating 100 years of recorded music in India, in presence of Thankamani and Govindan Kutty, Derek Manro, Kalavati Devi, Sutapa Talukdar and Amita Dutt.
