Till January 10 at Chemould Art Gallery; 10 am - 7 pm (except Sunday): Animesh Nandi’s exhibition of paintings, Faces continues. Till January 10 at Gallerie 88; 3 pm - 7 pm: An exhibition of recent paintings by Badri Narayan is on. Till January 11 at Chitrakoot Art Gallery; 3 pm - 8 pm: Perception 2002 — An exhibition of recent paintings by Rameshwar Singh. Till January 16 at CIMA Gallery; 3 pm - 7 pm (except Sunday): An exhibition of paintings titled Past-Modern, features the works of Amrit K.D. Kaur Singh and Ravindra K.D. Kaur Singh. January 7 - 18 at Academy of Fine Arts; 3 pm- 8 pm: An exhibition of paintings by 26 artists from Santiniketan, titled Transition, will be inaugurated at 6.30 pm by eminent artist, Paritosh Sen.

January 7 - 16 at Seagull Arts and Media Resource Centre; 2 pm - 7 pm: An exhibition of black and white photographs titled Contact begins at 12 noon today. The photographs were shot by children between 11 and 17 years — the outcome of a week-long workshop focussing on children on hazardous occupations.

DRAMA FESTIVAL

January 6 at Academy of Fine Arts; 6 pm: Dwandwik’s fifth theatre festival in memory of Achnitya Chowdhury begins with a felicitation programme. Ramendu Mazumdar of Dhaka (Bangladesh) will be honoured with this year’s Achintya Chowdhury Award, to be formerly given by Saoli Mitra. This will be followed by Nagarik Natyangan, Dhaka (Bangladesh)’s play Grihabasi. Direction: Laki Inaam. January 7 - 12 at Sarat Sadan, Howrah: 5.30 pm. Dwandwik’s fifth theatre festival features — (Jan 7, 5.30 pm): Dwandwik’s latest production for children based on Rabindranath Tagore’s Suva. Direction: Moloy Chowdhury & Nagarik Natyangan, Dhaka (Bangladesh)’s play Sarama. January 7 at Swabhumi; 5.30 pm: Ranjan Bhattacharjee from Bolpur will render Baul songs. January 9 at G.D. Birla Sabhagar; 5.30 pm: Paramparik’s second annual programme of classical music features Pandit Manas Chakraborty (vocal) and Ustad Shaheed Parvez Khan (sitar) Accompanists include Samar Saha, Tanmoy Bose and Sanjoy Mukherjee. book launch

January 8 at Oxford Bookstore, 17, Park Street; 6.30 pm: Penguin Books India and Oxford Bookstore jointly host a reading and interactive session with author Gurcharan Das on the occasion of the city launch of his book,The Elephant Paradigm: India Wrestles with Change.

EXHIBITION

January 10 - 16 at Calcutta Information Centre; 6 pm: To mark the 400 years of Indo-Dutch relationship, the Consulate of the Netherlands in Calcutta in collaboration with the Royal Netherlands Embassy, New Delhi, jointly host an exhibition titled, Anne Frank Exhibition — A History for Today. Anne Frank’s life story is used to recount the history of the Holocaust. Till January 12 at Identity Exhibition Gallery, 22, Ballygunge Park Road; 10 am - 8 pm: An exhibition-cum sale of a large collection of Indian and imported books.
