Paradigms of expression
Presenting a brief outline of the formal evolution of contemporary Indian sculpture over the last 50 years, Four Generations of Contemporary Sculpture features works by 16 sculptors. While the senior artists exhibit a tendency to assimilate eastern tradition with western modernity, the sculptors of the new generation reflect and comment on the present global situation through their works. Their themes based on socio-temporal realities, each sculpture exemplifies the distinctive style of its creator. Participants include Uma Siddhanta, Manik Talukdar, Bimal Kundu, Sujit Kumar Karan, Ketan N. Amin, Nantu Behari Das (a sculpture by him appears above), Tarun Maity and Arya Oraw.
