Pherari Club of Makardah has no fixed address. For the past three years, the club has been holding Saraswati puja at different neighbourhoods of Makardah. Pherari Club was started by a group of students right after their Higher Secondary exams. Since they failed to get a permanent address for their club, they called it Pherari.
“We organise Saraswati puja every year at different places that gives us an opportunity to get together once a year,” said Sudipta Chatterjee, a member of the club. This year’s puja was organised at Makardah Sibaji Sangha Club grounds. Pherari Club’s Saraswati puja had the lotus as its theme and Saraswati was seen standing on a blooming flower.
Ankur organised its 32nd Saraswati puja at the HIT Quarters near Dumurjala with a theme on Feluda. The pandal was based on Kailashey Kelenkari, designed after the cave where the film was shot.
Bally Prafulla Samity’s popular ‘jaler thakur’ stepped into its 67th year. This year’s theme was Swami Vivekananda’s life. The puja is organised on the pond at the crossing of Dingshaipara and Radhanath Banerjee Lane.
