Siliguri, Aug. 6: Acclaris Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd — a non-voice BPO company — will soon set up shop in the trade hub.
A wholly-owned subsidiary of Acclaris Incorporation in Tampa, Florida, USA, the company will set up its third centre here after Calcutta and Visakhapatnam.
This is the second BPO company to start operations in Siliguri, the first in the non-voice sector. At present, Xploretech, a Calcutta-based company, is running a call centre here with 120 employees.
“Our company has already acquired a building at the software park in Matigara. Renovation work is on and we hope to start operations from October 1,” Kalyan Kar, the managing director of the company, told The Telegraph over phone from Calcutta. “We are planning to start with 32 employees and hope to expand by next year. A batch of more than 10 candidates, all from north Bengal, has been selected through interviews and is training in Calcutta.”
Acclaris employs around 400 people in its two centres at Vishakhapatnam and Calcutta in India and 100 more at Tampa in Florida and Overland Park in Kansas, in the US.
The company deals in system software development, designing and implementation of management information system, back office and remote data entry and IT enabled services, an official said.
“We cater to high-end overseas clients dealing in settlement of insurance claims, health, parking and transportation reimbursements, financial planning and several other reimbursement plans,” the managing director said. “Our employees need to have good analytical and communication skills.”
Acclaris has tied up with Burdwan University, training interested students for jobs in the sector. They are planning to do the same with North Bengal University (NBU).
“As part of the tie-up students are given three months’ training to make them fit for the job,” Kar said. “We are contemplating a similar arrangement with NBU. In this way we will have a ready talent pool to draw our employees from.”
