COLOUR CODE: 

Don’t force anyone to play Holi
Don’t forcibly smear pedestrians or strangers with colours 
Don’t throw balloons at pedestrians from highrises

WEATHER WATCH:

Thursday promises to be bright and sunny with the mercury kissing 35 degrees Celsius.  The weather is expected to remain similar on Friday, Holi.

ON THE MOVE:

Metro service will run from 2.30pm on Thursday and 6.45am on Friday. Few buses, minibuses and yellow taxis are likely to ply on Thursday morning. App-cab operators have promised service as usual but surge fares are expected. Local trains will run as usual.

NOISE NORMS:

Microphones and loudspeakers are barred as ICSE and ISC exams are on.

DISTRESS DIAL:

Dial 100 or the Calcutta police control room (22143230 / 1310) if in trouble 

COP WATCH:

2,000 cops on city roads and as many in Salt Lake on Thursday and Friday
684 police pickets on Thursday and 579 on Friday 
27 heavy radio flying squads, 47 mobile patrols and 49 divisional mobile units
64 ghats will have cops on duty
150 police pickets and checkposts in 10 police station areas of Salt Lake 

DRY DAY:

Thursday to be dry till 2pm but that’s no damper on the festive spirit. No curbs on Friday.

SWEET TOOTH:

Traditional mithais are the taste of Holi. Feast on Kaju Rolls, Badam Barfi, Baked Badam Biscuits and Kaju Gujiya.

TIPPLE TALE:

Not just bhaang or thandai, pick your poison from Mojito Cooch Behar at TFO-The Factory Outlet, Beer Popsicle Trail (picture above) at The Grid, Rang Barse at Whats in d name on Camac Street and Rang De Basanti at Gabbar’s Bar & Kitchen.

THE LOOK:

Girls, be comfy in easy breezy shirts or tees and denim shorts. Accessorise with bandanas and colourful scarves to protect your hair and look cool. Boys, slip on a kurta and an old pair of denims. Go desi with a scarf or a dupatta around the waist. Sport cool reflectors to guard your eyes.

TAKE CARE:

Oil your hair, apply moisturiser on all exposed parts of the body and sunscreen on your face. Afterwards, shampoo your hair and condition it. To cleanse, use a homemade pack of milk, white bread, orange peel and oil.
