Siliguri, Dec. 19: Peerless Hospital and B.K. Roy Research Centre, Calcutta, plans to set up information centres in every district of the region.

The centre?s managing director Shyamal Basu said today that further expansions will take place here. ?We will set up, in phases, an information centre, a polyclinic, a day-care centre and a state-of-the-art diagnostic centre.?

The information centres ?the one here will come up by end January ? will provide patients and their kin details of the facilities available at the Calcutta centre. ?Bookings and telemedicine facilities (whereby specialists in Calcutta can be consulted live through the Internet) will be made available at the information centre,? said Tarun Chakrabarty, marketing manager of the hospital.

?We are tying up with the group?s sister concern, Peerless Travels, which will arrange all rail/air travel and stay bookings for the patient and escorts,? Basu said. Specialists from Siliguri and Calcutta will visit the polyclinic on fixed dates, while the day-care centre will conduct minor operations and even pinhole surgery in future.

The diagnostic centre will have an up-to-date pathology department and CT scan facilities housed in the Peerless building on Hill Cart Road, the hospital?s assistant marketing manager S.S. Dey said.
