July 26: Babli Chatterjee, the wife of Bengal education minister and Trinamul secretary-general Partha Chatterjee, died this afternoon following a cardiac arrest.

Chatterjee, in her late fifties, was taken to a private hospital yesterday after her condition deteriorated. She had been on regular follow-up for multiple health issues for the past few years, doctors said.

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who went to the hospital from the airport after arriving in Calcutta, expressed her condolences.
