Tamluk, Feb. 19: Two Nandigram villagers whose land has been identified for a 1.5km bypass have written to the district magistrate demanding over 20 times the government rate of Rs 17 lakh an acre.
Brothers Nripendranath Das and Santosh Das have submitted with the letter records of the land registry office specifying the market rate of Rs 4 crore an acre in Nandigram.
“According to the records, we should get Rs 64 lakh for our 0.16 acres. But the administration says we will get Rs 2.72 lakh. We will not accept the price,” Nripendranath said.
Additional district magistrate Moloy Haldar said: “We have received the complaint. We will look into the demand.”
