Darjeeling, Sept. 3: Budding musicians looking for a break and the chance to gig with a band now have an opportunity to do so.

Buzz, a popular watering hole in the town, will soon launch a talent hunt to spot young musicians and help them form proper bands.

Rakesh Chandra Singh, one of the organisers of the event, said: “The competition will start from September 10 at Buzz. We will have three contests stretching till November. The contest is open to all, from talented youngsters to professionals. The best performer will be given a sum of Rs 5,000 every month.”

Performers will be allowed to play only acoustic music, but the contest is also open to bands. However, bands, which participate, will initially have to do so without the drummer.

The contest will be held on three days of the week starting from Friday. At the end of the month, the best performer will be selected. Participants can play any style of music ranging from western genres to modern and traditional Nepali tunes.
