Siliguri, Aug. 3: A hotel built in collaboration with film star Mithun Chakraborty at Shivmandir near here will be inaugurated by the actor on August 11.

Hotel Monarch Aachal shares the brand name of ‘Monarch Group of Hotels’, owned by Chakraborty in south India.

“We have entered into an agreement with the actor to use the brand name and logo of his hotel. It has been built on the lines of three hotels owned by the actor in south India. Mithunda will have a role in the administrative part of the hotel and provide us with expertise to run it. The actor will also be present on August 11 to inaugurate the hotel,” said Tapan Das, the managing director of the hotel.

“Another advantage of our association with Mithun Group of Hotels is that they will brief their existing clientele on our hotel,” he added.

Das said the three-storey hotel with three restaurants, 34 rooms, banquet hall and conference room had been built for Rs 4 crore.

“The restaurants will serve Italian, Continental and Bengali food. They will be operational from August 11. We have plans to build a swimming pool, gym, spa and a hair saloon soon,” said the MD.

Hotel representatives hope people from Bangladesh will also be their clients.

“We have trade links with Bangladesh and this ensures us assured clientele. Many people who visit Darjeeling, Dooars and Gangtok make Siliguri their base. They can stay at our hotel during their trip,” said Rathin Guha, an executive at the hotel. “The charges will be decided by Mithunda when he comes to inaugurate the hotel,” he added.
