I enjoyed reading “Monumental makeover” (November 6) by Sobhana K and Sebanti Sarkar. The neglected state of Victoria Memorial Hall, conceived by Lord Curzon and designed by Sir William Emerson, screams of the disinterest of the authorities concerned to maintain what was once Calcutta’s pride. So many tourists still come to look at the monument. There are just two guides to show them around. That is evidence enough of the way the memorial is being managed.
