IPhone X missed call

FRIDAY LAUNCH BUT NO STOCK TO SELL

Calcutta: Price is not the only bar to acquiring Apple's iPhone X, this piece of bling demands your patience too.

The Cupertino company's latest object of desire would, in all likelihood, miss its date with the Apple faithful in Calcutta on Friday, the day of its scheduled launch in India along with the US and several other countries.

"Till this morning, there was no Calcutta-bound shipment from Bangalore. It is highly improbable that we will have an iPhone X to sell on Friday," said the store manager of a Camac Street reseller.

An employee of a reseller in Quest Mall said the store had received a communication that Calcutta might not receive its iPhone X consignment in time for the launch. "Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi are the first-day hotspots. Pune and Chennai too."

The buzz is that the first lot of Apple's priciest phone ever - the 64GB one costs Rs 89,000 and the 256GB version Rs 1,02,000 - would not arrive until November 10.

"There is no clarity as of now. Before the launch of older iPhone models, we would get to know the delivery dates at least 48 hours in advance. This time, we are still in the dark," said a senior executive of a top Apple distributor.
