Gangtok, March 19: Hoping to continue its winning streak, a contingent representing the Sikkim State Karate Association (SSKA) has left for Mumbai to participate in the 17th national karate championships.
SSKA vice-president R. B. Rai will lead the team for the championships to be held at Mumbai from 22 to 31 March.
Five tae-kwondo enthusiasts representing the Sikkim Amateur Taekwondo Association (SATA) are also attending selection trials in Bangalore for a berth in the national team. The Sports Authority of India is holding the trials.
Should the Sikkimese qualify, they will participate in the qualification round for the Athens Olympic Games in 2004.
