Races, drills, the spirit of competition, the joy of winning and more — annual sports in schools was an occasion to cherish for students and teachers alike

The 13th Annual Sports Meet of DPS Megacity was lit up by the drill presentations by the senior, junior and pre-primary students. In the track events, Hasan Nawaz of Agni House bagged the Best Male Athlete award and Yukta Shah and Anushka Chatterjee jointly won the Best Female Athlete award for the senior school. 

Fortius 2017-2018, the annual sports meet of Ravindra Bharathi Global School, was all about colourful races, drills and loads of fun. The chief guest for the event, held at the New Town Football Stadium, was Arjuna awardee Biswajit Palit.

Around 1,100 students from classes I to V took part in the junior sports of Sri Shikshayatan School. The day began with a colourful and rhythmic drill medley by students. This was followed by various races and a colourful aerobics display by members of the aerobics team.

The annual sports of Calcutta Public Schools, Kalikapur and Bidhan Park, saw peppy dance drills, energising exercise drills and a display of martial arts. Students from Nursery-Class XII competed in events such as sprints, sack race, obstacle race and skipping race. Aayushi Aloke of Class XI was declared the Sportswoman of the year and Dipayan Sarkar of Class XII was adjudged the Sportsman of the year. 

St Sebastian’s School, Seal Lane, held their Annual Athletics Meet 2017 at Seal Lane ground recently. Students from various houses presented colourful drills themed on unity, patriotism, teamwork, environment and more. St Matthew (Red) House won the award for the best march-past and St John (Green) House bagged the best disciplined house award and also the championship trophy.

Sudhir Memorial Institute, Liluah, organised its annual sports, Agman 2017, at Sailen Manna Stadium in Howrah recently. The students participated in the event with great zeal and fervour. The taekwondo and yoga shows were the top draws.
