Alipurduar, Aug. 29: A first-of-its-kind documentary — featuring all forest reserves in the state — will be screened at Nandan in Calcutta on Thursday.

To be inaugurated by forest minister Ananta Roy, the film has been directed by Shamik Gupta and has Debasree Roy as the anchor. The national award-winning actor will take viewers on a trek through the five national parks and 15 wild sanctuaries in the state. Named Wild Bengal, the documentary was shot over six years and is a little over two hours in duration.

“We have been working on the film from 2000 and have spent more than Rs 30 lakh on it. Made in English, we intend to market the film in different parts of the country and abroad,” the director said over phone from Calcutta. The documentary will showcase the biodiversity of the state and its tourism potential, he said.
