Students aspiring to study in Presidency University can take a mock test before the real one on Sunday to familiarise themselves with the new online examination.
One can take the mock test from Thursday.
The JEE board is going to provide a link on its website ( www.wbjeeb.in) and that of the Presidency University (www.presiuniv.ac.in), which will contain details on how a student would write the test.
The link, which will also have a set of instructions on how to answer questions in the mock test, would be uploaded at noon on Thursday.
"Although we would give a demonstration to each candidate hours before the start of the admission test at each centre on July 12, the mock test has been designed to give students a chance to prepare themselves in advance," said an official of the JEE board, which will conduct the exam on behalf of Presidency University.
Candidates who have a computer at home can take the mock test as many times as they wish. One can also practise at a cyber café.
A board official said an advantage of the online test is that a candidate can change an answer even after saving an option.
In the earlier system, where candidates had to answer multiple choice questions on optical mark recorder sheets, there was no option to change an answer.
Presidency vice-chancellor Anuradha Lohia said the demonstration on the exam day might not be adequate for all candidates.
"Since we are holding the test online for the first time, it will help if the candidates get to practise early. That's why the mock test is being held," Lohia said.
