Debangshu Sengupta, who had directed the hit mega serial Mahaprabhu that marked Jisshu Sengupta’s debut on television, died in Darjeeling on Thursday night. He was 54.
Sengupta was on a holiday in the hills with his two sisters. His body will be flown to Calcutta on Saturday. Relatives suspect he died of a cardiac arrest. The post-mortem report is awaited.
Sengupta was directing ETV Bangla mega serial Dutta Barir Chhoto Bou. He had directed many hit TV serials for Zee Bangla and STAR Jalsha. “He was a very talented TV director,” said Himanshu Dhanuka, producer, Eskay Movies.
Tollywood mourned the late director’s sudden death on Twitter. Jisshu Sengupta tweeted: Lost Ritu da last yr n Debangshu da ystday!!! Feeling very empty n lost... 2 of the most important ppl in my life after Ma n Baba.
