Jalpaiguri: Dhupguri police station in Jalpaiguri district has been adjudged as the best rural police station in Bengal and was ranked fourth in the country by the Union ministry of home affairs.

A team from the ministry had conducted a survey and the assessment was made on the basis of various parameters that includes, public dealing, case disposal, amenities available in the police station for people, relation between police and public, law and order management, role of police in social activities and others.

In the category of town base police stations, Newtown Police Station under Bidhan Nagar Commisionarate has secured the first position.

Amitabha Maiti, SP Jalpaiguri, said: "In this connection everything will be disclosed by higher officials in Calcutta."

Sanjoy Dutta, IC Dhupguri P.S, said: "I don't have any official confirmation on this but if it is true then we are proud of it."
