Day of puppy love

The Kennel Club of Darjeeling’s dog show was held on Sunday morning at Chowrasta.

The Kennel Club of Darjeeling’s dog show was held on Sunday morning at Chowrasta. 

Woofing Pawfect-Dog’s Day Out, was organised along with the Darjeeling municipality, the animal resource department and tourism department of the GTA. 

Sandip Lakhotia, the general secretary of Kennel Club of Darjeeling, said there were 300 participants at the show. 
“There were 22 breeds and in each breed there were competitions for first, second, third for three categories - puppy, junior and open,” he said. 

The event was supported by a Facebook community called Wooff: World of Our Furry Friends. 

Apart from the dog show, the Darjeeling Photography Society also organised a photography competition at 
Chowrasta. 

Nimesh Sundas, the president of Kennel Club of Darjeeling, said: “The main objective of organising the show is to allow pet owners exchange ideas on proper grooming of their pets.” 

 

 

Name: Pixie, over a year old; breed: Dachshund; ownerspeak: Pixie came dressed as a butterfly, or may be an angel. Kiden Tshering Bhutia, a Darjeeling resident, said: “Pixie looks a bit nervous with so many dogs around.” Not quite the social butterfly yet.
Name: Kanchee, two year-old; breed: German Shepherd; ownerspeak:  Kanchee’s owner is Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung. He was not there at the event. However, an aide said: “Sir, has two dogs. This is Kanchee and his other pet is a pug who is called ET. He is four years old.”
