Governor C.V. Ananda Bose will reach north Bengal on Thursday on a two-day visit, officials of the Jalpaiguri district administration and the Border Security Force (BSF) said on Wednesday.
On arrival, Bose will visit Fulbari on the India-Bangladesh border at the southern end of Siliguri.
“He is scheduled to visit the integrated check post in Fulbari. Senior officials of BSF and the administration will welcome him,” said a source.
From there, the governor will head for Jalpaiguri. On Friday, he will visit a unit of the Missionaries of Charity that is in Assam More of town. Later, he will reach the Jalpaiguri branch of the State Bank of India.
“In 1977, he joined SBI as a probationary officer and worked in the Jalpaiguri and Calcutta branches. It was the same year he qualified in the IAS exam,” said a source.
After many years, Bose will visit his old workplace.
Sources in SBI said that in 1977, the bank used to run from an old building. “The old building is still there, next to the place where the bank operates from now,” said a source.
On Wednesday, bank officials inspected the bank. The old building and its furniture has been cleaned and given a fresh coat of paint, one of them said.
“We are also trying to find out employees who used to work when the governor was a young probationary officer,” the source added.
