New Delhi, Oct. 26: The joint parliamentary committee today announced that its members would visit Bengal and Assam in the first week of November to meet organisations protesting the Centre's decision to grant citizenship to Hindu minority refugees from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

During a meeting today, Bihar joined Bengal and Assam in opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act Bill, 2016.

Terming the Centre's decision "communally motivated", the Bihar government said it would endanger the secular character of India.

"Members of the JPC will visit Assam and Bengal on November 2 and 3 to meet all the stakeholders who have been opposing the Centre's move. We will also meet the prosecuted Hindu minorities from Bangladesh," a JPC member said.
