More than 100,000 Calcuttans have not been counted during the official enumeration period of Census 2011.

The Calcutta Municipal Corporation, entrusted with the job for the first time, have 30 days, out of which February 9-28 were for door-to-door enumeration, March 1-5 were for mop-up and March 6-10 are for data entry.

Since March 5, executive engineers of the 15 boroughs in the city have received complaints from over 35,000 households that the enumerators had not visited them, said a source.

Enumerators are being sent to the left out households now, added the source.

“Enumeration and data entry will continue simultaneously. We have time till March 10 to include the left-out households,” said a civic official working on the census.

Households that the enumerators have not visited can lodge a complaint with the executive engineer of their borough. Telephone numbers of the borough executive engineers are available from the CMC control room (22861212/1313/1414).
