Several long-distance trains were cancelled or delayed on Friday because of waterlogging on the tracks leading to Howrah station following relentless rain on Thursday.

The Tikiapara carshed was inundated for a better part of Friday, leaving many Howrah-bound trains stranded.

Some trains had to originate from Santragachhi and Shalimar because of the waterlogging near Howrah, said an official of the South Eastern Railway.
