Calcutta, Aug. 29: Calcutta High Court today ordered fresh elections to the posts of pradhan and deputy pradhan of a panchayat in East Midnapore where Trinamul won following the arrest of three CPM winners on the complaint of the ruling party.
The voting to the Talgachchari II gram panchayat, where Trinamul and the CPM have won six seats each, was deferred from August 17 to today following a clash. The court said the fresh polls would have to be held in seven days.
