Ranaghat, May 24: The sub-divisional officer of Ranaghat today handed over the two Nadia twins to their father after he approached him for their custody.
Suparna Kanti Roy Chowdhury, the SDO, said: “I was satisfied after talking to the father. He said he would take care of his twin daughters.”
The five-year-old girls were put in the “safe custody” of a neighbour after their mother left them alone at home and went to Ranchi for two days. The mother’s plea for custody was not considered for “lack of responsibility”.
Burdwan: A clerk in the motor vehicles department in Burdwan has filed a petition in court accusing a regional transport officer of molesting her. The court has issued a warrant against Ashish Kumar Saha, who said he was being “framed”.
Tamluk: A CID team has interrogated East Midnapore CPM leaders Himanshu Das and Rabiul Islam at Tamluk sub-divisional jail in connection with their alleged involvement in the abduction of seven persons during the 2007 Nandigram recapture. The duo had surrendered in Tamluk court on Monday.
