Alipurduar, Aug. 22: Priyobroto Deb, a student of Class VI in Macwilliam High School here, was caned by a teacher today for allegedly snatching Rs 5 from one of his friends. The student denied the charges. He was given first aid at Alipurduar hospital.
School headmaster Sudhangshu Biswas visited Priyobroto’s house and apologised for the incident. No police complaint was lodged.
Alipurduar: The headless body of Parimal Sarkar, 36, a cloth merchant, was found in Makhantari under Falakata police station on Wednesday. Police said Sarkar was returning home on Tuesday night from a weekly market when a gang of criminals killed him.
Siliguri: Students of Siliguri Institute of Technology have been boycotting classes since Tuesday, alleging inefficiency of the college management.
