At night, when people retire to bed in our block, an army of stray dogs assembles on the roads and start expressing their moods by barking in various pitches.
This continues for hours and residents are losing their sleep night after night. Children, the ill and the elderly are especially suffering. It’s an alarming situation. Repeated complaints to the authorities have not yielded any result and no solution seems to be in sight.
Can I, on behalf of the residents of CF Block, appeal to the civic authorities to take some immediate measures so that the stray dogs can be taught a lesson in behaving themselves, even if they cannot be caught and removed from sight? Our patience is really running thin with continued lack of sleep.

Spewing fume
My apartment in New Town faces the DLF complex and the generators in their basement have been spewing smoke into our housing estate.
DLF’s underground car park has diesel generators and their fume outlet is on ground level. So the poisonous gases come straight into Rail Vihar. The noise and vibration caused by the generators are also terrible.
The matter was reported to the New Town Kolkata Development Authority but no action has been taken. I also hope the Pollution Control Board takes up the matter.
